Description:

The Project Manager represents the owner/client interests when liaising with the Construction Department. Uses job estimate information and contract details to set up project, coordinates all meetings between company representatives and client/owner/engineer, purchases job materials, and manages subcontractors. Monitors all aspects of costing and production, approves monthly progress billings, generates cost-to-complete reports, and provides project schedule updates. Coordinates and completes all duties while promoting and fostering the Regehr company’s culture, core values, and vision.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

These tasks outline the essential duties and responsibilities. Additional duties may be assigned as required.

1. Monthly Reports & Billing

  • Monitors and critiques cost vs. estimate data on an ongoing basis.
  • Completes monthly cost-to-complete reports.
  • Reports the job’s forecasted billable revenue by month to the company controller.
  • Facilitates all progress billings, ensuring that all items, extras, and change orders are billed correctly and completely.

2. Procurement

  • Purchases—or approves the purchase of—job materials.
  • Sets up project subcontractors with scope of work, contracts, and purchase orders as needed, in coordination with the estimator and manager of engineering.
  • Communicates with the yard purchaser to maximize the use of existing material inventory.

3. Owner/Client Representation and Relations

  • Manages as-built drawings, control plans, submittals, transmittals, and RFIs.
  • Represents the owner/client with respect to contractual obligations, schedule milestone dates, other stakeholders, and standard or job-specific specifications.

4. Working Closely with the Construction Department

a. Construction Manager

  • Creates and regularly updates a project schedule that meets owner/client milestone dates while aligning with the construction schedule.
  • Ensures timely completion of all required permits and legal documentation.
  • Reviews the completed project binder to verify accuracy and relevance.
  • Shares job setup details at the internal pre-construction meeting between the estimator, construction manager, superintendent, and foreman; facilitates the job kick-off.
  • Critiques construction department production rates/costs in relation to progress billing, conducting post-job analyses to maximize job profitability.

b. Superintendents and Foremen

  • Provides all required IFC drawings, permits, purchase orders, and owner/client communications to support efficient operational planning.
  • Reviews construction methods in relation to design and contractual details, ensuring compliance with specifications and commitments while minimizing rework.
  • Initiates contract change management and clearly communicates the scope of any additional work as needed.
  • Schedules the purchasing and delivery of job materials with supervisors based on the construction schedule.
  • Schedules on-site construction meetings between the engineer and contractor.
  • Inspects and reports on project progress, equipment, and materials to the project management team.
  • Maintains satisfactory relationships with owners, consultants, subcontractors, and others.
  • Works effectively in a team environment with project managers, engineers, and superintendents.

Description:

The Civil Estimator / Project Coordinator is responsible for assisting and /or preparing initial cost estimates for the required supplies and services, create pricing schedules, develop bid proposals, and assess the technical aspects of the project. You may assist with progress reports, risk assessments and purchasing of materials. As a valued member of our estimating team, you will be able to support and take instructions from others with assigned duties to gain and improve efficiencies, all while promoting the Regehr company culture and core values.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

As a member of the Project Management Team; your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Read, interpret and understand contract drawings and specifications.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Project Managers including analysis of tender drawings and preparation of quantity take-offs.
  • Identify costs involved in projects, and solicitation of sub-trade pricing for tenders both in person and on the phone, with follow-up analysis of sub-trade quotes.
  • Review, along with the assistance of the Project Managers, updated design drawings and specifications for variances in project budgeting.
  • Review shop drawings submissions to ensure conformance to project specifications and Subcontractor’s scope.
  • Distribute updated design drawings and specifications to subcontractors, as they pertain to their trade.
  • May prepare construction cost budgets from awarded tenders via electronic means.
  • May communicate with supervisors and management at site.
  • Site visits may be required.
  • Prepare progress report

Qualifications:

  • Completed Civil Engineering Program
  • Previous experience in the construction industry is preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge in using MS Office and AutoCAD
  • General project management skills (i.e. Budgeting and scheduling)
  • Strong computer skills (i.e. spreadsheet, project scheduling software, etc.)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid Driver’s License

The General Laborer is responsible for assisting the skilled laborer’s in completing jobs according to plans. This position is based out of the Fraser Valley but may travel to job sites across the Lower Mainland and the Greater Vancouver area.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a member of the Civil Construction Team; your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including drills, forklifts, skid loaders and other tools as directed by management.
  • Clean and prepare construction sites as needed by removing and properly disposing of debris and waste materials and digging trenches.
  • Shovel materials to and from construction areas, including asphalt and dirt.
  • Follow all safety procedures on the job site and report violations immediately to management.
  • Maintain a safe and clean job site by handling materials and storing them properly, picking up and removing all tools and equipment when not in use.
  • Load and unload construction supplies from trucks both manually and with the use of equipment.

Qualifications

The Heavy Equipment Operator (HEO) position will primarily operate excavators on our civil development sites. Depending on the project, you will be handling a range of excavation services and operating other types of heavy equipment. We are looking for a careful, articulate individual with excavation experience and a “ready to work” attitude!

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Backfilling
  • Grading slopes to specifications
  • Mainline trenching
  • Trench servicing
  • Bulk excavation
  • Other skills sets may include, but not limited to backhoe, dozer, and skid steer
  • Perform and document equipment inspections to ensure reliable and safe operation
  • Participate in daily and weekly crew meetings

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • 2 Years previous Heavy Equipment Operating Experience
  • Moderate ability to interpret drawings
  • Monitor and ensure all safety risks are removed from the excavation
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Be a results-oriented leader capable of working productively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Civil Pipelayer is responsible for communication with the superintendent to ensure efficient and accurate pipe installation. This position is based out of the Fraser Valley but may travel to job sites across the Lower Mainland and the Greater Vancouver area.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a member of the Civil Construction Team; your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Install Storm, Sanitary, Water and Hydro/Tel to proposed grade.
  • Set Catch Basins and Manholes to proposed grade.
  • Have moderate abilities to read drawings.
  • Must be able to properly co-ordinate with site foreman on days tasks/approach.
  • Monitor granular back-fill and ensure pipe maintains position.
  • Monitor and ensure all safety risks are removed from the excavation.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience in a civil pipelayer position
  • Experience working in other aspects of the civil construction industry is considered an asset
  • Willingness to assist crew with day to day activities that may not be pipe installation related
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

The Civil Construction Foreman is responsible for managing the site crew along with enforcing safety procedures on the assigned projects. We are looking for strong leadership skills to guide projects from beginning to completion, while maintaining a positive team atmosphere. This position is based out of the Fraser Valley but will manage job sites across the Lower Mainland and the Greater Vancouver area.  

Primary Responsibilities:

As a member of the Field Operations Team; your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Taking data from project managers to implement in the field
  • Enforcing and maintaining safety procedures in accordance with Work Safe BC
  • Communicating with project managers to ensure plans are completed accurately, and in a timely manner
  • Overseeing crew operations on the field

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of civil construction foreman experience preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints
  • Must be able to perform under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Possess the demonstrated ability to motivate self and others.
  • Be a results-oriented leader capable of working productively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

The Surveyor / Grademan is responsible for overseeing the layout of projects, maintaining functionality of GPS survey and machine control, and monitoring project quantities. This position is based out of the Fraser Valley but may travel to job sites across the Lower Mainland and the Greater Vancouver area.

Primary Responsibilities:

As a member of the Civil Construction Team; your duties and responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

  • Record survey information obtained from the field and store in a systematic order
  • Assist in preparing quantity measurements for progress reports
  • Ensure GPS machine control maintains accuracies and tolerances
  • Maintain condition of equipment and promote a safe work environment
  • Understanding and fulfil construction milestones as set by superintendents according to project schedules
  • Localize site and complete topographic surveys

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years experience in a survey/grademan position
  • Experience working with Topcon equipment is considered an asset
  • Willingness to assist crew with day to day activities that may not be survey related
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Valid Driver’s License
