Scope of Work:
Part A – Salmon River Dike Upgrades
- Raising of the existing 600m-long earth dike by approximately 0.9 metres on average
- Installation of a concrete and steel barrier system through the pump house section of the dike
- Tie-ins to the existing riverside trail network and maintenance access driveways
- Installation of new 16-foot golf ball protection fence along the new trail at the top of the dike
- Part B & C – Bedford Channel Bank Erosion Mitigation
- Installation of a natural erosion protection system at two sites (WP2 and WP6 – Optional Work) along the riverbank adjacent to the dike upgrade work
- Installation of rock armouring, large woody material (LWM), and geotextile/soil-wrap systems to repair the eroding riverbank
- Vegetative restoration measures including live staking at maximum 0.6m spacing
